How the standard gets set

Checked Against a Standard You Have Approved

Before production we fix four things with you: the appearance standard, the dimensions that matter, the functional checks and the packing. Then we inspect against those, not against a general promise. Which checks apply depends on the pack.

Before production

Project Quality Planning

  • The standard is a physical sample you have approved.
  • We pay most attention to how the parts fit together and whether the product works.
  • Leak, torque, opening force, priming, drop — we pick the checks that suit the pack.
  • Packing, labels, shipping marks and quantity per carton go in writing before production starts.
Incoming

Component Checks

  • Nothing reaches assembly before we check it against the specification.
  • Material and color go back to the reference sample.
  • When a product is built from several parts, we check how they fit together and whether the color matches across them.
In process

During Production

  • We patrol the line and take samples through the run, so every batch stays traceable.
  • Decoration position and adhesion are checked while the run is still open. A bad batch can still be stopped at that point.
Pre-shipment

Before It Leaves

  • We find the cartons by shipping mark and take samples from the middle, not the top.
  • Appearance and dimensions go back to the same physical sample we started with.
  • Functional checks run on samples taken from the batch.
  • Packing, labels, shipping marks and quantity all get checked and photographed.
What you receive

What Is in the Inspection Report

You use the report to decide whether to release the shipment, so we put in what we checked and what we found.

Product details

The color, design and size of each part, and how many we shipped.

Test results

Which checks ran, the readings taken, and how they sit against the range set for the project.

Packing

How many go in a carton, the carton size, and how the goods are packed.

Photographs

The products we sampled, and the shipping marks as they appear on the cartons.

Typical test items

These are the checks we run. Which ones apply depends on the pack. We set the method and the pass range with you before production starts.

Component Fit

Does the pump or closure leak, sit crooked, need a gasket change, or strip on the thread? We settle this before samples go out.

Leak and Seal

Sealing, tested with the method that suits the pack. The vacuum check applies to every format we supply, and runs on samples from the batch.

Priming

How many presses before the pump dispenses, counted with water.

Torque

The force to put a closure on and take it off, aluminium collars included. This one matters when your filling line caps automatically.

Dip Tube Pull-out

How much force it takes to pull the dip tube out, so it stays in place in transit and on your filling line.

Opening Force

What it takes to open a flip-top or disc-top closure. We set a range with you rather than a single number.

Drop Test

The filled or weighted pack, dropped under the condition set for the project.

Appearance & Color

Visible defects, and color against the physical sample you approved.

Dimensional Check

The dimensions and matching points on the check sheet, measured against the drawing.

Decoration Check

Where the print or foil sits, how it looks, and whether it stays on.

Cleanliness

Dust, oil and moulding residue, checked before parts go into cartons.

Packing & Quantity

Quantity per carton, carton size, labels and shipping marks, all checked before loading.

Being clear about the boundary

What We Test, and What Only You Can Test

It is more useful to say clearly who tests what. Here is how we split it, so nothing falls between us later.

  • We check the fit. Tell us the bottle you use and we will send the pump or sprayer already fitted to it. We check leaks, thread and whether it sits straight before it ships.
  • We run batch tests. Leak, torque, opening force and drop tests, with a report in English available with the batch.
  • You run formula compatibility. Chemical interaction between your formula and the packaging needs your formula, which we do not hold. The industry practice is that we supply the components and you test against them.
  • You run transport testing on the finished, filled pack, since it depends on your fill level, closure torque and cartoning.
